You’ll notice: the box drifts warm or the controller reads high.
What it means: most often a dirty condenser coil starving airflow, then a failing condenser or evaporator fan motor, low refrigerant from a leak, or a compressor issue. A condenser cleaning resolves a surprising number of these.

Freezer — heavy frost or won’t defrost
You’ll notice: ice builds on the coil or ceiling and cooling falls off.
What it means: the defrost circuit — a failed defrost heater, termination thermostat or timer/control — or a door not sealing, letting in humid air. The iced coil then chokes airflow and the box warms.
