Ultra-low freezer — won’t reach or hold -80°C
You’ll notice: a -80 freezer climbs above setpoint or alarms.
What it means: ULT freezers use cascade or Stirling refrigeration; a compressor-stage fault, a refrigerant issue, a dirty condenser/filter, or a control/sensor problem keeps it from holding -80°C. With irreplaceable samples inside, it’s a true emergency.
