Frigidaire washers — and their Electrolux twins — report faults with E-codes, the same language as the brand’s refrigerators. Each code names the failed step of the cycle. Here is how we read the common ones on Denver Metro service calls.
E10 — water fill problem
The tub expected water and did not get enough in time: a sediment-clogged inlet screen, a failing fill valve, a kinked hose, or low supply pressure. If pressure at the nearest tap is fine, the valve and its screens are the suspects, not your plumbing.
E20 — drain problem
The most common Frigidaire washer code we see: water would not leave in time. The classic find is a sock, coin or bra wire in the drain pump or the sump hose — and on this platform reaching the pump means opening the cabinet, which is why E20 is also the most DIY-abandoned code on the internet. Same failure family as washer won’t drain; repeated forced drains overheat the pump motor.
E41 — door lock fault
The control never confirmed a locked door: a worn latch assembly, a misaligned strike, or the lock’s electronics. A washer that will not lock will not start, so this one takes the machine fully out of service — but the lock is a common, affordable part.
E90 — control / communication error
The boards stopped talking to each other. Occasionally a power-cycle clears a one-off; a persistent E90 means a board or the harness between them, and this is the code where testing before ordering matters most — control boards are the most expensive guess on the machine.

Are Frigidaire and Electrolux washer codes the same?
Largely yes – same corporate platform, same E-code system. A guide for one usually reads correctly for the other.
Can I clear E20 by running the drain cycle again?
You can force a drain, but if the pump path is blocked the code returns immediately – and every forced attempt heats the pump motor. Clear the blockage, not the code.
My washer shows E41 but the door feels closed – why?
Closed is not locked. The control needs electrical confirmation from the lock assembly; a worn latch can feel fine by hand and still never report locked.
