COMMON BOSCH PROBLEMS & ERROR CODES — WHAT THEY REALLY MEAN
Pulled from Bosch’s own service manuals and our shop’s hands-on repair experience — the faults customers actually run into across Bosch dishwashers, refrigerators, washers and ovens, explained accurately. We diagnose and repair these; we don’t recommend DIY.
Dishwasher — won’t drain
You’ll notice: the cycle ends with water still standing in the bottom of the tub. Many Bosch models show E24 (or E22/E25); the newer heat-pump and zeolite dishwashers flash the far-right LED and log a drain-pump fault.
What it means: per Bosch’s service data, this is a drainage problem — a clogged filter, a blocked or kinked drain hose, debris jamming the drain pump, or a failing pump. The dishwasher protects itself and won’t finish the cycle until it can pump out.
Common across Bosch 300, 500 and 800 Series (SHE / SHP / SHX / SHPM) dishwashers.

Refrigerator — not cooling / running warm
You’ll notice: the fridge or freezer is warmer than the setting, food isn’t keeping, and the compartment temperature climbs.
What it means: per Bosch’s refrigerator service manual, a warm Bosch fridge usually traces to a stalled No-Frost evaporator fan, a defrost fault icing the coil, a compressor or start-relay problem, or a sealed-system issue — which we narrow down with Bosch’s compressor and cooling diagnostics.
Common on Bosch counter-depth side-by-side, French-door and bottom-freezer refrigerators (B-series).

Washer — won’t drain / won’t spin
You’ll notice: the cycle stops with water still in the drum and the display shows E18, and the load never spins out.
What it means: on Bosch front-load washers, E18 means the machine couldn’t drain in time — usually a clogged drain pump or pump filter, a blocked or kinked drain hose, or a failing pump.
Common on Bosch compact front-load washers (WAT / WAW series).
→ Needs professional service — book FiXiFY.
Oven — won’t heat / wrong temperature
You’ll notice: the oven won’t reach temperature, takes far too long to preheat, or won’t heat at all.
What it means: on Bosch wall ovens and ranges, no-heat or wrong-temperature usually points to a failed bake or broil element (electric), a faulty oven temperature sensor (NTC), an igniter or gas valve (gas), or a relay on the control board.
Applies to Bosch wall ovens, slide-in ranges and cooktops.

REPAIR OR REPLACE YOUR BOSCH?
A good rule of thumb: if your Bosch is under about ten years old and the repair costs less than half of a comparable new unit, repairing is the better value — Bosch builds premium, long-lived appliances and most faults are a single component, not the whole machine. Bosch parts cost a little more than budget brands, but the machines are worth keeping. And if your Bosch genuinely isn’t worth fixing, we’ll tell you straight. That’s the FiXiFY way — we fix things instead of telling you to throw them away.
