Hoshizaki is a Japanese maker known for commercial ice machines built to run hard in restaurants, bars and healthcare kitchens — crescent-cube, cubelet and flake ice — plus commercial refrigeration. The machines are engineered to be serviced, and most faults trace to water quality, the condenser or a single sensor.

For more than six years, FiXiFY has repaired commercial ice machines and refrigeration across the Denver Metro area. We work from a storefront in Denver, diagnose Hoshizaki from its own error codes, and fit genuine OEM parts — and we know an ice machine down on a Friday night is an emergency.

COMMON HOSHIZAKI PROBLEMS — WHAT THEY REALLY MEAN

E1

Ice machine — E1 (high-temperature thermistor)

You’ll notice: production drops or stops and the board shows E1.

What it means: per Hoshizaki’s error codes, E1 means the high-temperature thermistor read above the safe operating range — usually a dirty or blocked condenser, a failing condenser fan motor, or a refrigerant-side problem. On air-cooled units it’s most often the condenser needing cleaning.

E2

Ice machine — E2 (bin control thermistor)

You’ll notice: the machine stops as if the bin is full, even when it isn’t.

What it means: E2 is a bin-control thermistor fault — either the bin really is full, or the sensor that detects the ice level has drifted or failed and is falsely reading full.

E3 / E4

Ice machine — E3 long freeze / E4 long harvest

You’ll notice: cycles run too long, ice is thin or hollow, or harvest stalls.

What it means: Hoshizaki’s cycle codes: E3 (freeze too long) points to low refrigerant, a dirty evaporator, or a water-supply or pump problem; E4 (harvest too long) points to the hot-gas valve, a clogged water supply, or the ice-thickness sensor.

COOL

Refrigeration — not holding temperature

You’ll notice: a reach-in or prep table runs warm or freezes product.

What it means: common on commercial refrigeration: a dirty condenser, a failing evaporator or condenser fan, a frosted coil from a defrost fault, or worn door gaskets letting warm air in.

REPAIR OR REPLACE YOUR HOSHIZAKI?

With Hoshizaki, repair is almost always the answer — a commercial ice machine or refrigerator is a multi-thousand-dollar asset, and most faults are a single component: a condenser cleaning, a thermistor, a water valve, a fan motor or a hot-gas valve. These are built to be serviced for a decade or more. And if a unit genuinely isn’t worth fixing, we’ll tell you straight — that’s the FiXiFY way.
