Your Maytag appliance is built to last — Maytag’s whole reputation is dependability, and these machines are almost always worth repairing instead of replacing. For more than six years, FiXiFY has repaired Maytag washers, dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators and ranges in homes and businesses across the Denver Metro area. We’re based at a storefront in Denver.
Maytag is built by Whirlpool and shares its control boards and fault-code system with Whirlpool, Amana and KitchenAid — so we know these machines inside out. Whether your Maytag top-load washer won’t start or your dryer won’t heat, we’ll diagnose the cause and get it running again.

COMMON MAYTAG PROBLEMS & ERROR CODES — WHAT THEY REALLY MEAN
Pulled from Maytag’s shared Whirlpool-family service tech-sheets plus our shop’s hands-on experience — the faults customers actually run into across Maytag washers, dryers, dishwashers and refrigerators, explained accurately. We diagnose and repair these; we don’t recommend DIY.
Washer — lid won’t lock
You’ll notice: the washer won’t start a cycle, you hear it try to lock the lid and click, and the display shows F5 E2 — the lid lock can’t reach the locked state.
What it means: per the Whirlpool-family washer tech-sheet, F5 E2 means the control couldn’t lock the lid in time — usually a failing lid-lock assembly, wash media or a small item jammed in the strike, or a wiring fault between the lock and the main board. A top-loader won’t spin until the lid locks.
Common on Maytag top-load washers (MVW / Bravos series, Whirlpool VMW platform).

Dryer — runs but won’t heat
You’ll notice: the drum turns and the cycle counts down, but the clothes come out cold and still damp.
What it means: on Maytag dryers, no-heat is usually a burned-out heating element, a blown thermal fuse or open thermal cut-off, a failed cycling thermostat, or restricted venting that trips the safety. Gas models add the igniter and gas-valve coils.
Applies to Maytag electric and gas dryers (MED / MGD).

Dishwasher — won’t drain
You’ll notice: the cycle finishes but there’s still water standing in the bottom of the tub, and dishes don’t come out clean.
What it means: on Maytag dishwashers, water left in the tub usually points to a clogged filter or sump, a blocked or kinked drain hose, a jammed or failed drain pump, or a check valve stuck shut so water siphons back in.
Common on Maytag built-in dishwashers (MDB series).
→ Needs professional service — book FiXiFY.
Refrigerator — not cooling / running warm
You’ll notice: the fridge or freezer is warmer than the setting, food isn’t keeping, and the compartment temperature climbs.
What it means: on Maytag refrigerators, a warm unit usually traces to a failed thermistor (temperature sensor), a defrost fault icing the evaporator, a stalled evaporator fan, or a sealed-system problem — which we narrow down with the Whirlpool-family diagnostic tests.
Common on Maytag French-door, side-by-side and top-freezer refrigerators.
→ Needs professional service — book FiXiFY.
REPAIR OR REPLACE YOUR MAYTAG?
A good rule of thumb: if your Maytag is under about ten years old and the repair costs less than half of a comparable new unit, repairing is the better value — Maytag is built to be dependable and serviceable, parts are widely available through the Whirlpool family, and most faults are a single component. And if your Maytag genuinely isn’t worth fixing, we’ll tell you straight. That’s the FiXiFY way — we fix things instead of telling you to throw them away.
